Immunohistochemistry
Immunohistochemistry is a colourful technique that uses antibodies to detect for the presence of specific targets (like proteins on, or inside, cells and tissues!)
Janine Jaramillo completed her undergraduate studies at the University of Melbourne in 2018. She graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree (majoring in neuroscience) and a Diploma in Languages (specialising in Japanese). During her undergraduate studies, she went to Sophia University (上智大学) in Japan for a short study abroad program, where she learned about Japanese culture and media.
After graduating, Janine was torn on whether to pursue a career in medicine or research. Eventually, she decided to satisfy her research curiosity first and learn about the intricacies of neuroscience research. She completed a Masters in Biomedical Science in 2022. Her Masters project was carried out as a part of the Addiction Neuroscience Laboratory at The Florey Institute of Neuroscience and Mental Health. Her project involved mapping the neural circuit of satiation, primarily focusing on fluid satiation. Janine believes that neuroscience is an exciting field of science that is yet to reach its golden peak!
